Rising Shadows

Fantasy Fiction You Won't Want To Put Down From Michelle Meraki

Our review...

For avid fans of Fantasy Fiction seeking something genuinely memorable which will sweep them away to a world of magical adventure, Rising Shadows may well mark the end of their quest. Immediately enthralling, laden with opulent characters and with the most intriguing plot, it may be a debut novel for Meraki but she's hit the ground running with an epic series in the making. It takes a lot to stand out in such a popular genre, especially when it comes to creating imaginatively rendered worlds but Meraki takes it in her stride and in doing so proves she is an adept storyteller. One who is comfortable staying loyal to genre tropes whilst still making them feel fresh and original as Lira and Megara are thrust into a power game where the stakes are beyond measure. Her story is rich in detail but not cluttered by it, doing exactly what it should do by sweeping readers up into another time and place, into a world they will be sad to leave. Underpinned by strong character and dialogue development which is refreshingly free of faux-classical baggage she creates an emotional connection with her readers which is hard to deny.

Raising the stakes for the next outing in Meraki's Ertera series, Rising Shadows embodies the enduring appeal of the genre and is strongly recommended.

Readers’ Comments
‘Wonderfully written fantasy saga. I loved every page. The author is adept at describing setting in an interesting and vibrant way. A little slow here and there but, all in all, a superb beginning to this fantasy saga.’ Male reader, aged 28
‘Well-paced all the way to the final cliffhanger. Loved it!’ Female reader, aged 42
‘A large number of characters which were a little difficult to keep a handle on. But they grew with the story. The second half has considerably more pace than the first half, inevitable in a story of this nature. Very enjoyable; this author is a firestorm of imagination. Role on the next book!’ Male reader, aged 51
‘This felt original. I liked that, as so many fantasy books seem to be just another Rowling or Tolkien rehash. Solid writing style and well-plotted. The characters, particularly the primary, were intriguing with plenty of depth. I will read the next.’ Female reader, aged 66

To Sum It Up:
‘A spellbinding fantasy adventure. A FINALIST and highly recommended.’

Twilight of the Empire

Fantasy Fiction You Won't Want To Put Down From Michelle Meraki

Our review...

Readers who have yet to come into contact with Michelle Meraki's novels are certainly in for a treat and have a great deal of catching up to do with the release of Twilight Of The Empire. Her second foray into the realms of Fantasy fiction she continues to stamp her trademark prose on the genre whilst reminding us how enjoyable Fantasy fiction can be when penned by a gifted author. With great characters and Meraki's wonderful way of describing settings she fully immerses her readers in her imagined world with a narrative that achieves a fine balance between dialogue and action whilst maintaining the same level of momentum, suspense and intrigue she delivered in Rising Shadows. Lira and Megara return with their fates further entwined in the fabric of the empire along with several intriguing new characters who are given just the right amount of back history, not too little and not too much, with distinctly darker overtures as events evolve and merge together to create a story that is rich and highly satisfying. One of honour and glory, duty and loyalty, courage and resolve, all coated in a wonderful blend of magic that plays to the best-loved elements of this ever popular genre.

A compelling Fantasy novel that's perfect for fireside reading Twilight Of The Empire is sure to meet the expectations of Meraki's readers whilst enticing many new followers to her books. It is highly recommended.
